|Heating System Check|
|October 16, 2019|
As we head into the cooler months, we will begin using our heating systems. Before using them for the winter, make sure they are clean and in good working order.
HVAC systems and other "heat pumps" should be ran on approximately 75 degrees for an hour during the day while you're home. This will burn off any dust or other particles that may be in your system.
Chimneys should be swept and inspected by a certified technician. The carbon layer in the chimney can reignite if enough heat is introduced to it.
Space heaters, including kerosene heaters, should be ran for 20 minutes. When using these space systems, make sure there is about a three foot buffer space between it and other objects; the convective and radiative heat can ignite walls, blankets, beds and clothing.
Help us all have a safe fall and winter season.
