Over the next several days our area will be experiencing increasing rainfall as a weather front moves through our area. The rainfall, which could be quite heavy at times, could potentially cause some flash flooding in our area. Please allow extra time if you are traveling and do not attempt to drive through any submerged roadways, as the road could have been washed away. Remember, "TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!"
Found below is the hazardous weather forecast from the National Weather Service office for the next 7 days.
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, piedmont North Carolina, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.
.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.
Bands of heavy rain showers, and embedded thunderstorms, will lift northeast across the region this morning. Locally heavy rainfall and a few cloud to ground lightning strikes will be the main threats with the morning activity.
Scattered thunderstorms developing during the afternoon hours will become stronger, particularly over Upstate South Carolina and extreme northeast Georgia. These storms will also produce locally heavy rainfall, but the potential for isolated, damaging wind gusts will increase with these storms through late day. More widespread heavy rain showers will develop tonight and the threat of isolated flooding will gradually increase.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
An active pattern will set up across the region through the weekend and into early next week. With multiple days of moderate to heavy rainfall, the threat of flash flooding will increase. Also, a few strong storms may produce gusty winds.
