Fuel Spill

At approximately 11:40 a.m. Blacksburg Fire Department was dispatched to the Pilot Fuel Center at Exit 106 on Interstate 85 in reference to a large fuel spill.

Upon arrival several gallons of diesel were observed on the ground near the fuel Island. Incident command was established and size up of the same revealed approximately 30 gallons leaking from a fuel tank from the side of an 18-wheeler. Oil-Dri and other absorbents were used to contain the fuel.

Highway Patrol was dispatched to conduct an investigation as a vehicle was involved in the incident. The oil dry and other products we're left to the maintenance crew of the facility for cleanup.

Blacksburg fire Personnel cleared the scene at approximately 12:20 p.m.
