Structure Fire On Wilderness Trail

February 6, 2018

Station 9 responded automatic aid with CKC Fire Department at approximately 3:45am to the corner of Wilderness Trail and Mullinax Circle in Blacksburg regarding an abandoned structure fire. The fire was reported by a sheriff deputy on routine patrol.

On arrival, the structure was well involved, with the roof support system (trusses) having failed. This resulted in the structure already being on the ground. Fire personnel deployed one 1 3/4" attack line and cooled the fire to an almost smoldering state using a defensive strategy. Incident command notified forestry, and a plow unit was dispatched to "pile up" the remaining structure components.

There were no injuries or fatalities reported on this incident.

Blacksburg Fire was cleared from the scene at 4:30 am.
