Structure Fire

January 17, 2019

On 1/16/2019 at about 7:02pm, Blacksburg units were alarmed to a structure fire on the 800 block of W. Pine Street.

Upon arrival, moderate smoke was emitting from the front and eves of the structure, a double story residential dwelling.

Crews immediately deployed two attack lines and conducted interior attack and search operations. Due to the difficult access to the second story, due to destruction of the staircase, a roof crew was assigned for vertical ventilation.

Control was achieved within 35 minutes of arrival, and complete suppression of hot spots within an hour and a half.

Always keep up with your homes maintenance, including any electrical issues or other faults that may become apparent. Smoke alarms should be checked every 6 months, and replaced every 10 years.
