Extended service outage for Northern Blacksburg, Grover on Friday

May 18, 2018

Broad River Electric has scheduled an extended service outage for members in the North Blacksburg and Grover areas.

Weather permitting, this outage will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18. The loss of service could be as long as 8 hours for some members.

This planned outage is required so that Broad River Electric’s power supplier can perform scheduled maintenance on essential equipment.

Who is affected?
All members fed by Broad River's North Blacksburg substation well be affected. That station serves the most northeastern portion of our territory. Those affected include Blacksburg and Grover residents north of I-85. Blacksburg residents residing south of I-85 and north of Burnt Mill, Hopewell and Dyre Roads will also be affected. The map shows the entire service area that will be affected. The red and green lines represent Broad River Electric service lines.

Even though all members that are served by the North Blacksburg substation will be affected, many of them will experience only a brief outage because power can be backfed from other substations to their homes and businesses.
